Exploring the diversity of leaf beetles (coleoptera: chrysomelidae) on the islands of Vietnam: a survey of Phu Quoc Island, South of Vietnam

Chrysomelidae on the islands of Vietnam has been poorly known. In this study, we investigated diversity Phu Quoc Island in Kien Giang province, Southern Vietnam. Specimens were collected from national park and buffer zone forest. First, all specimens ordered into a morph-species operational taxonomic unit (OTU). We 52 morphological OTUs 31 genera 5 subfamilies, 20 which identified as level species. Then, extracted, amplified, sequenced 658 bp fragment mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) gene. A total 63 DNA barcode sequences 13 species 27 successfully assigned to 32 Barcode Index Numbers (BIN) Bold. comparison, between BINs, number was reduced 24 (a 44 OTUs). The is estimated be 1.38x –1. 96 × greater. BINs generated 30 new 28 BOLD. results study provide first document leaf beetle fauna island Barcoding data for region Vietnam, well additional documents beetles another world.
